<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Babungo, July 17, 2025 - The JCAC (Central African Community Journalists) network highlights the courage and impact of those who, every day, keep the news alive in the most remote corners. This first episode of the “One Voice, One Village” series takes us to Babungo, in Cameroon’s Northwest Region, to meet Menai Felix Yengo, a community journalist who serves as a vital bridge between the villagers and the world.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">From behind the microphone at Radio Babungo - a modest station with a powerful reach - Felix brings the airwaves to life with stories rooted in local reality. In a region shaken by the Anglophone crisis, he continues, with unwavering determination, to use radio as a remedy against isolation and misinformation.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">"Every day, I take the microphone with pride to listen, report, and fight rumors," he says, eyes steady and voice calm.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">More than a messenger, Felix is a popular educator. His programs explain public policies, translate reforms into accessible language, and, above all, give a voice to the forgotten: farmers, women, youth, and internally displaced people. In this difficult context, he creates a space for dialogue where everyone can speak without fear.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">He also uses radio as a tool for civic education: raising awareness about peace, promoting critical thinking, and teaching how to verify information. Each broadcast becomes a moment of collective learning.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">But this mission comes at a cost. With frequent power outages, outdated equipment, and limited access to training, the challenges are many. Felix makes a heartfelt appeal:

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">"I need to strengthen my skills in journalistic writing, equip the station with solar panels, and build solid partnerships. Together, we can amplify our impact."

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">An appeal the JCAC network strongly echoes. Because as digital media rapidly advances, community radios remain - especially in rural and crisis-affected areas - the only reliable source of information and social connection for millions.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">"Together, even in adversity, let’s make our voices resonate to enlighten and unite our villages," he concludes.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Through this profile, the goal is to give voice to an entire generation of community journalists: committed, resilient, indispensable -and still too often invisible.
